Raised beneath the peaks of the Venediger and Lasörling ranges, I'm sharing a place that's very close to my heart: a fully renovated (2026) holiday apartment in the mountaineering village of Prägraten – for up to 4 guests, right in the middle of Hohe Tauern National Park.
You're not just staying in any holiday apartment – you're staying somewhere I call home myself: with over 200 km of hiking trails and ski-touring terrain right outside the door, a family-friendly ski area within walking distance, and the quiet of a valley at the far end of the Virgental.
Whether you want to conquer the surrounding three-thousanders or simply enjoy the calm on the terrace – here you'll find exactly the break you're looking for: authentic, personal, and right in the middle of Hohe Tauern National Park.
Open-plan kitchen and living area with dining table and sofa, underfloor heating throughout, and a large, sunny terrace – quietly located on the ground floor of a two-family house in St. Andrä, the main village of Prägraten.
From the front door through the open kitchen to the children's room – this is how the freshly renovated ground-floor apartment welcomes you. Click a photo for the full view.
From a valley stroll to a high-alpine ridge trail, for every level.
Hut-to-hut facing the glaciers or overlooking the Venediger range.
667 km of road and mountain bike trails across East Tyrol – from family-friendly valley routes to demanding singletracks.
A family-friendly nature trail in Ströden, a true natural spectacle.

Family-friendly local mountain right in the village, great for beginners.
47.1 km of slopes and 16 lifts – the largest ski area in East Tyrol, reachable by free ski bus in about 25 minutes.
20–30 km of groomed tracks, part of "Dolomiti Nordic Ski," floodlit trail until 9 pm.
Extensive winter trails and ski tours up to over 3,000 m.

Self-service bread shop run by a local farmer's wife – fresh bread & cake every Saturday.

I grew up in Prägraten and now live in Munich – but the mountains of my home never really let me go. That's exactly why my apartment Lasörling exists here, in the place where I grew up.
As a passionate paraglider pilot, I keep coming back to the Virgental – one of the best cross-country flying areas in the Alps. My wife and daughter also love rediscovering my former home every time.
My roots here run deep: my parents ran the Gasthof Islitzer for many years. My father was an enthusiastic "Stoansuacha" – a passionate mineral hunter who explored the mountains in his own special way.
We live at the most beautiful end of the world.
